| Since the 1990s, China has become the largest country in coal production and consumption. Effective control of emissions from the combustion of coal has been an important problem demanding prompt solution. It is of great importance to retrofit existing coal-fired boilers to increase their combustion efficiency and control the emissions. This paper described the process of retrofitting the 20 th-1 travelling-grate boiler into a circulating fluidized-bed boiler. A cost-effectiveness analysis for the retrofit was given, and it was concluded that retrofitting the travelling-grate boiler into a circulating fluidized-bed boiler with the suspension combustion technique calls for relatively small investments, yields quick returns and will find wide applications in the future. |
