| The oxygen-enriched combustion is a new type of efficient combustion technique of low emission and energy consumption. In this technique, macromolecular membranes are used to conduct selective separation of air in order to produce oxygen-enriched air (the oxygen content greater than 28%) for industrial combustion processes. Based on a thorough analysis and investigation of the fundamentals of the macromolecular-membrane separation technique and the combustion process in diesel engines, the engineering feasibility of applying the oxygen-enriched combustion technique to diesel engines was discussed in detail in this presentation. It was concluded that applying this new combustion technique will improve the performance of diesel engines, reduce emissions and energy consumption. |
